May your days be filled with the exquisite pleasure of new adventures, fabulous destinations and excellent friendship.
Ben made it home after all - he was not feeling 100% - Janny picked him up from Heerenveen and then they stopped to get a Chinese take-away.
A Sunday walk in the forest and then back home again...
Wombats.
A Netherlands zoo has acquired two wombats - the first in the Netherlands. A kids program explained why they have square poop. I had already heard it on a quiz show, but it was quite interesting, nonetheless.
Corona on the increase
The Government have announced a special Press Conference for Tuesday - presumably to bring back some restrictions
The two kids of one of our clients tested positive for Covid - so we sent him home - along with our volunteer, as they had been working closely together.
A nephew (who is anti-vaccine) also came down with it.
So, we are being extra-cautious and sticking with our own "rules" for the day clients. It all seems too close to home.
At the same time, the number of positive cases dropped slightly to 7,439 in the 24 hours to Friday morning. Nevertheless, the figure is still 944 more than the average over the past week. Some 15.6% of tests are also now proving positive. The new figures were published as ministers met to try to decide what to do about the surge in the number of cases, which started after most measures were lifted on September 25.
According to RTL Nieuws, no decision is likely to be taken on Friday and more talks are scheduled over the weekend, ahead of Tuesday’s press conference.
A quiet week
With my helper away, I also had a quiet week. The weather plays such a big part in what we can do - or what we feel like doing.
I made a couple of panels to replace the doors on the boat for the winter - and treated them with Owatrol.
The boat is booked to come out on the 11th of November.
I also have a challenge to find the same or similar plug for the mast. A screw inside the plug rusted away - after 45 years - I might just have to find or adapt something else...
Christmas already on the way...
At the bottom of this sign (the white section) it says "we will not enter into discussion about the Covid measures" and " intimidation and threats will not be tolerated" .
Yes, they have anti-vaxxers here - even to the point of one wacko politician going against ALL vaccinations - even the ones he presumably had as a kid - he's also a Holocaust denier and a climate change denier - but he still got elected...
We've been having to show our QR code at restaurants, but one in Burgum said it was not necessary in their restaurant - in hindsight, we should have left. I think it was such a surprise that we didn't know what to do. (I think it is compulsory, so I don't know what their story is). Now that we have thought about it, we will walk away if it happens again - we feel much more comfortable in a place where they take it seriously.
Totally agree with your restaurant event. They think they can do what they want. I went into a bottle shop down here at Phillip Island where the attendant didn’t where a mask. I’ll have to say something next time.
