Week 34
Frank and Pam visited from France - they drove up in one day, which is no mean feat. Janny and I usually stop overnight, somewhere in between. Frank took great pains to tell us that he "drove through Paris without GPS" - little matter that it was 6 o'clock in the morning on a Sunday!
Sunday dinner at the local restaurant and then Monday morning to the boat (in Dokkum)
They were fairly relaxed for the whole trip, managing to cope with the boat, cooking, eating, making cups of tea, eating out, drinking...in other words, all the usual stuff!
Janny came on board for the evening at Klein Groningen and was (just) able to ride her bike home...
Upon reflection, I probably didn't take as many photos as I should have...
Frank and Pam are travellers - and were lucky to get out of Australia when they did. I was just happy to be "on the boat", soon to get back into my normal routine. They have to get back to France in order to get some papers sorted out and then head off to Dijon where a friend has a winery with many free samples...
We're also trying to find some time to head down to St. Georges Motel (France) when Janny's sister gets back from holidays.
Day 4 in Donkerbroek
Early morning Aldeboarn
Gorredijk
Lock, Gorredijk to Klein Groningen
Don't see many of these...
At Donkerbroek with Robin and Joy
Free to use bikes at Oldeberkoop...
I like mooring in this corner...easy to get out again
Pam. the marathon runner, found this delightful park/garden while she was out running.
In all the years, I had no idea it was there...
...another lock
